Happy holidays all! Got a little story for yah about how I became a master carpenter...'s helper over the weekend and got to spend some QT in the country with my brother in the process. It all started this fall when Anne and i saw some rad farm tables at the Brooklyn Flea Market made by this super cool store called Olde Good Things. They make furniture out of old reclaimed lumber so... I got an idea to make one myself. It so happens that there's an architectural salvage company in RVA called Caravati's that has tons of reclaimed heart pine from homes built turn of the century. I went down there and got what i needed and brought it to my bro's house where began planing (like with a planer), table sawing, glueing, clamping, drilling and nailing it in his wood shop until we had transformed it into a Bistro Farm Table of my very own. It turned out stylish, beautiful and STURDY (I'm typing on it now)!!! Just thought I'd share. Families are cool. Thanx Ricky!

ARMS FOR LEGS (AUTUMN ADDITION)
Hello, hello... I’m writing to inform you all that we are on the cusp of unleashing a beastly new edition of the “Arms For Legs” EP. It’s called the “Autumn Addition” (festooned in orange, black and leaf brown for fall) - it’s entitled “addition” as opposed to “edition” because we’re adding 3 new tracks... The first one (and track that I’m clearly most excited about) marks the premier of a brand new Ki:Theory song called “Here To Stay”. It also marks the very first (of hopefully many more) collaboration between Ki:Theory and fans from all around the globe who submitted their voices to be mixed together and included in a virtual screaming mob of a chorus section (you’ll hear what i mean...). Next up is a remix for the band Pictures and Sound which is the project of my good friend Luke Reynolds. Luke is a great singer, songwriter and all around musician as well an exceptional human. The remix was for his song "100 Directions". It has a "Vs." in the title and I think you'll hear why upon first listen... And lastly but not leastly there's the remix of "Mustaches" I did for That 1 Guy. While I don’t know him personally, I did find his music pleasing and easily coaxed into an alternative vision of Ki-ness that simultaneously retains That One Guy-ness. All the “Arms For Legs” favorites from the OG version remain, but this time the files include lyrics in case you were curious of my mush mouth ramblings... On a side note, we’ve been hard at work on some handmade crafty new merchandise that’ll be popping up real soon (including a chance to get a polaroid picture taken of your mug w/ the elusive Bear and BlackFace...), so keep and eye out! And as always...

ARMS FOR LEGS (ACOUSTIC)
Most of my songs start out on an acoustic guitar as the song "Arms For Legs" did. It helps me to get the words out and then down in my notebook. Here's a raw acoustic recording that was made early on in the process. Hope you enjoy...
Arms For Legs:
Dressed up no place to go
We have arms for legs
Turn off your radio
If you can’t stand to beg
Don’t wish the stars that fall on this night
Don’t let the scars be shown unless they’re on your good side
You don’t want the scars to show in this light
I bet the farm before, but this one just don’t feel right
So, come on let’s learn to dance
On a setting sun...
And walk through the spider webs
We’ll do it just for...
We’ll do it for fun
Dressed up but clothes are torn
We have arms for legs
Good intentions are such a bore
Light the powder kegs
Don’t wish upon a star on this night
Don’t let the scars be shown unless they’re on the inside
You don’t want the scars to show in this light
I bet the farm before, but this one just don’t feel right
So, come on let’s learn to dance
On a setting sun...
To “Great Pomp And Circumstance”
We’ll do it just for...
We’ll do it just for fun.

Be in a Ki:Theory song...
I got a new song I'm working on. It's called "Here To Stay". It's almost finished, but I need your help... I need lots of screaming voices! If you think you can yell some stuff and wanna get on the next Ki:Theory song, then read on. Let's think about this... It will be easy. The lyrics (what you're supposed to yell) and a recording of the yelling so you can know how to yell it (rhythm and such) are included below. This ain't singing, so don't worry if you got an "F" in show choir in 8th grade. Now, you make a recording and send me an audio file... This could be anything from a high quality WAV/AIFF (recording nerds know what I'm talkin bout) that you make in your home studio to a recording on your mom's answering machine (the higher the quality the better, but anything is cool). Here's a list of all ways I can think of that you could make a digital recording capable of sending over the inter-web:
- Home studio (Pro-tools, Logic, 4 track)
- Garage Band (all newer Apple's come w/ it)
- microphone on your computer
- hand held memo recorder
- iPhone app (memo recorder)
Upload me your audio file here: http://idisk.mac.com/kitheory-Public
Or mail me something (cassette tape, CD):
Red Light Management C/O Mr. Foley
321 Main Street, Suite 500
Charlottesville, VA 22902
Or (last resort) send me an e-mail and we'll figure something out: HereToStay@KiTheory.com
LYRICS:
"We mean!"
"We mean!"
"We won't!"
"Here to stay!"
Oh, and if you participate, we'll send you the finished track before it gets released to the public in the next version of "Arms For Legs".
Good luck. Have fun.
***Here's the link to download the reference recording to sing to. But make sure you do not have the reference recording in the background of the recording you make to send us!Also - time is of the essence, so please send your recordings by 1st of August!!!
C U.

P.S. We’re being required to say that the files you send us are owned by Ki:Theory or we can’t technically release the track with your recording. But we figure that’s OK because you want to be on the track.

BLACK CAT...
Imagine... It's Saturday night in DC. You live there and it's a warm early summer evening, so much potential, so much to look forward to... A great night to hit the scene, the pavement... to participate to feel alive... This Saturday can be that night! Here's the plan - invite some peeps over around 6:30-7pm-ish. Fire up the coals and throw some fresh fish, poultry, burgers, steaks, veggie burgers, smart dogs - whatever fits your mood. Drink about 3 beers out of a premium six-pack (e.g. Dale's Pale Ale, Hitachino, Boddington's...etc.). Jam the new Passion Pit on your stereo and rock some wii Tennis until about 8:30. Slam a shot of Bulleit Bourbon whiskey, douse the flame and walk out the door around 8:45 and head towards BLACK CAT - it's you, a few close friends and the night. You arrive around 9:15 (the perfect time) and you are in for a REAL TREAT... Why?... because you are about to be overcome by the artistically originating emotive movements of three great bands...

Progress...
- deciding what new songs we will add to our live set
- visualizing and imagining how those songs will translate
- sampling every sound and note that will be performed into either my Akai Z4 or SP303
- strategically assigning each sample to the key or pad of my choosing to be played back w/ my pretty red keyboard or my ugly black keyboard (i painted it) or my ugly black pad (i painted it too)...
- sampling all sound Ash will trigger w/ his Roland SPD-S
- rehearsing, then rehearsing again, then rehearsing like everyday
- shooting videos of Bear and BlackFace (the little people in the boxes) so they can be seen live
- deciding light show trigger placements for the new songs
- imagining how to streamline our production (5 vintage televisions, 6 light boxes - 2 par cams each, 1 100ft. strand of industrial light bulb lamps and 3 light triggers) into something a little more manageable...
All... in preparation for Bonnaroo in June (and a few sick shows leading up)!
C U there.

Tell me a lie
Through those honest eyes
It's the painless way
Truth is ruthless...
Draw me a line
But, let the center define
Where the fault will lay
Truth is ruthless...
And, somewhere down the line
It's just a matter of time
Before I fade away
Truth is ruthless...
So, call up your demons
And, cut out their tongues
It's time you were leaving
It's your turn to run
Run away....
Truth is Ruthless...
It's just about how sometimes the truth hurts:
Like, sometimes people just aren't good enuff to achieve their dreams. And, sometimes people lie to each other cuz they think the truth would be too painful for the other person to hear. And, sometimes people just lie to themselves - prolonging the inevitable or pretending it doesn't exist - but it's there and it's coming sooner or later. And some things in the world are just F'ed - it's reality and there's nothing anyone can do about it (or anything anybody WILL do about it) - just the way it is and it sucks...
Dark i know, but the music and melody contrasts it well i think (you'll see).
It's more of an objective piece - not personal, just observation.
Jus thought I'd share.
