sold creative souls...

Hi.  Me-n-Ash been workin on some cool new vids for our live show.  The concept is as follows: Since we're merely a 2 piece, we went and sold our creative souls to the rock-out spirits of the wild things, and in doing so gained two additional members - thing is, they are very small and confined to a 2-D world inside an electronic glowing picture box.  They are pictured above.  Look for them at future live Ki:Theory events.

Hi.  CMJ was awesome... We got to chill w/ friends Joel and Jamie for sOuth, see some really cool bands, and of course hang in Williamsburg (Brooklyn) - hypster capital of free world... Here's some highlights captured in video and photographs:

Ladytron remix live on Youtube (a little dark in the begining, but get's good).

Hey, just a note about my remix for Brazilian Girls... It's being released in an EP for their single "Good Time".  You can get it exclusively on iTunes.  I'm stoked to be on it w/ just one other artist, Diplo (none other than M.I.A. and Santagold's DJ!!).  Check it out.  I'll throw up it on MySpace after a while too.

Back in the USA...

So, I was in Argentina for a couple weeks on a little getaway w/ my sweetheart.  Buenos Aires is a vibrant city of Portenos (what the people born there call themselves).  They eat dinner at midnight and walk around drinking Mate (a plant stimulant like tea) all day.  We also visited a sleepy town in Uruguay called Colonia Del Sacramento.  It was a welcome break from the loud city bustle.  Staying in hostels, we met lot's of peeps (and became friends w/ some of them) from all over the place - Australia, Denmark, Sweden, London, Germany, Scotland...  One thing I picked up on was the overwhelming trend that people from around the world like to keep an eye on what goes on here in the US, and a lot of them don't like what they've been seeing.  I suppose they like what we've created (we've do come up w/ some cool shit - cars, internet, jazz, blues...etc.).  But they hate our government - mainly the direction it's taken the last eight years or so (military action, economics), and i got that the dumb fat American w/ his head up his ass, ignorant to the outside world is a common stereotype (perhaps deservedly so).  I hope we can turn it around here... On the bright side, there's kind of a big election coming up... Go vote! s'all I'm sayin...

But hey, now I'm back and Ash and i have been rehearsing (new junx) for a string of shows starting this week in Brooklyn, NY for CMJ music festival on Wed. 10/22, 10pm.  The venue is The Music Hall Of Williamsburg.  The other bands playing are Late Of The Pier, The Whip, As Tall As Lions, and Nickel Eye (feat. members of The Strokes and sOuth).  Then we drive back and play a show in Charlottesville, Va @ Boylan Heights on Friday 10/25 (free show).  Finally, Sat. 10/26 we head up to Washington DC for a show @ DC9 w/ Mother Mother.  Come out if you can.

Good to be back.

Thanx again NYC...

Irving Plaza

Was incredible last night - packed house. We had a great show and
the Cult hungry crowd seemed to embrace the contrast between us. I
talked to Ian Astbury about maybe doing a remix for them or even working
together on a new song! The whole band and crew were super nice and
helpful. It was tops to be out with such seasoned pros. We headin
back to RVA now. 95 sucks...

NYC tonight!

Yo. We've had some awesome shows so far with The Cult. 9:30 club was
the first. Great to see all you DC peeps represent. The Norva was fun
too but it was our 2nd show with our new lights and had a blow out in
the middle of our set in front a packed house.... Kinda awkward. But
we lived and now have learned to make damn sure we use seperare
breakers. So... The National was the best show yet with home court
advantage in RVA. Thanks to er'body that came out to the shows.
Tonight is Irving Plaza in NYC and word on the street says it's over
sold so should be mad packed. Very excited!... I'll let you know how
it goes. Gettin some video too. Till then...

Ki:Theory and The Cult!

Yo Yo Yo.... Just confirmed some of the tightest shows Ki:Theory has ever played.... A four show run w/ The Cult!!! See dates, cities, venues below - a little somewhere for everyone.  So, after discussions, debates, and deliberations - we have decided to go all 2 piece on yo asses!!! Translation: We are revamping our show to accommodate and exploit a 2 person line-up - That's me (singin, samplin, prancin n' shreddin) and (drummin) Ash.  The energy of this prospect excites us.  We steppin up the lights, electronics and mad beats - crunchin it all up in our fists and smackin it back down on the stage for all ya'll to... well, enjoy like a late night bowl of Fruity Pebbles...

9/9  Washington, DC - 9:30 Club
9/11  Norfolk, VA - The Norva
9/12 Richmond, VA - The National
9/14 NYC, New York - Roseland Ballroom

Brazilian Girls

So... Lookin like my remix of "Good Time" for Brazilian Girls is getting a digital release!! Diplo (M.I.A.'s DJ) did one too. Look for it on blogs and digital retailers (i.e. iTunes, Beatport, eMusic... etc.) real soon.

Pictures And Sound

I started working on a remix for Pictures and Sound this week (the track is "100 Directions").  It's Luke Reynold's (of Blue Merle) new band.  The record is out on Vanguard - produced by Jacquire King (Modest Mouse, Tom Waits, Kings Of Leon)! I'm shooting for a 1960's Brit-Rock / Colecovision chip tunes / Ki:Theory / indie rock shred-fest... We'll see how it comes out tho.

1st Post!...New Ki:Theory Blog

Hello/greetings.  First, apologies for my recent elusive behavior - I've been submerged in the Recordio since the tour w/ sOuth... Well, mainly been working on remixes - new songs and stuff too.  I did a remix for Brazilian Girls' "Good Time" as well as Computer Vs. Banjo's "Give Up On Ghosts" and now immersed in remixing Ladytron's new single "Runaway"!!  Also, did a mix a while back for Butchers Of Sky Valley "Drop Cock and Roll" which is getting a vinyl release (werd...).  Other release info to come.  Next remix in the pipe is for my Portland b.f.a.m. (brutha from anutha mutha), Luke Reynolds' new band Pictures And Sound, "100 Directions" - check it... he got it goin on.

What else, what else...  I got a new iPhone! Waited in line and all that - WEEEELLL worth it - getting good at typing on it.  I dropped it on the pavement the first night i had it (few scratches, but ok)... it's a tool tho, right? Been taking some pics w/ it too:

I watch the news (depressing) and learn things about the world - forming opinions on various issues and such - i like Obama, NPR science and environmental podcasts (All Songs Considered too), organic food, and me and Anne drink lot's of Kombucha tea these days.  I wanna get a moped - Ash has one... he's so cool (i wanted one before he got his tho, so it's NOT just because he has one and i wanna be just like him or anything like that...).

Been hangin @ the river w/ the dog a lot too:

We are trying for some tours this fall - fingers crossed - they'd be unprecedented... Also looking for a NYC show this summer/fall - perhaps CMJ.  Doing some east coast one-offs in the mean time.

Got some tracks coming up in a few indie films - "Get In The Van", a surf film that was previewed @ Bonnaroo this year (met directors and surfers - super cool peeps).  Also, "Under The Influence", a snowboarding/skiing movie - the trailer looks awesome.

Anyways, that's me for now.

Keep it easy and breezy - stretch the summer days and nights...
